Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa

We have had a reasonable experience with this hotel. When we arrived (at the normal check-in time), the room was not ready and we had to wait 30 minutes at a bar with a late barman and a welcome drink which was a cold tea. Following the little inconvenience we were brought to our room. The “lake view” was slightly underwhelming, with trees in front of the window, but I guess we could see the lake. I suspect that we were unlucky with the selection of the room. The room was however spacious and comfortable to stay in, with a nice bathroom and shower. The SPA was also enjoyable. Come time for dinner. We were left 5-10 minutes in front of the restaurant (with waiters knowing we were there) before being seated, and then we were seated at the only occupied table that had view on the wall, once again unlucky I suppose. The food was however pleasant, even if the total duration of the dinner was over two hours. We also had a random light turn on in the middle of the night, and one of the key cards for the room that didn’t work. I may have had relatively high expectations for this stay but the accumulations of little things really didn’t make it the experience I was hoping for. If you do go there, I hope you are luckier than we were. Enjoy Lugano!

Very, very disappointed, from the service, to the room continuing into the SPA. The Classic chic room with lake view - 22 m2 De chic it had nothing, on the contrary, extremely small and very worn towels, the same for the dressing gowns, worn, rough on the skin and not ironed, unironed bedspread and sheets, room with little hygiene, including the bathroom, where I found dead insects. Continuing to the restaurant, staff without training, and poorly timed, we were served by 4 different waiters, this causes stress, as you always have to repeat everything. The staff has no method in their work, making the service very confusing. The SPA, old style, slippery and dangerous tiles, small tiles in the pool drained and at the bottom of the pool, I touched them with my feet, there will be some dead leaves on the water in the indoor pool, the next day they were still there, we have them take us away. The edges of the pool are dirty, I wiped them with a handkerchief to see if it was an optical illusion, but they were dirty. This hotel is poorly managed, you can immediately tell when you enter. Too bad, it wouldn't take much to make it enjoyable. I won't go back, and I won't recommend it.

Stayed at Kurhaus in October of 2023 and had a pretty terrible experience. In my opinion the location of this hotel is awful, it is high up on the side of a mountain far away from anything (restaurants, stores, activities). We asked the front desk and they said the nearest restaurant (that isn't the overpriced one at the hotel) would require us to take a taxi which would cost about 60 Francs, one way, so 120 just to get there and back. We asked the man at the front what there was to do near the hotel without paying for a cab back to town and he just shrugged his shoulders. We ate at the restaurant (to avoid the 120 chf taxi fare) and it was also a very poor experience, took almost 2 hours to eat, over 60 minutes between placing our order and receiving the food because apparently the kitchen was very busy, but the restaurant wasn't even at 20% capacity. In addition to all of this, there was a dog in one of the hotel rooms which barked constantly, we talked to the front desk about this, he said he could move us to another room, great we said. We ask "can you make sure it's in an area where we can't hear the dog?" to which he responds with his trademark shoulder shrug. The spa and pool area were mediocre (room temperature to chilly pools and no hot tub). We were supposed to stay 2 nights here. We explained to the front desk staff how disappointed we were with our stay and the accommodations, and we intended to check out in the morning and not stay the second night. We asked if we could be refunded for only our second night because of how poor our experience was to which they refused. We disliked the hotel so much we ate the cost of the second night, and spent a couple hundred dollars to book a train and hotel in Milan where we had a fantastic time. If all you want to do is go to the spa, sit next to a pool (no hot tub) way up on a hill, and wait an hour to get the food you ordered, then maybe this is the place for you. Overall, I would NOT recommend Kurhaus.

Outstanding wellness hotel and spa, a hidden jem! Excellent cuisine with marvellous views from the restaurant and all balconies! Range of treatments and leisure activities! Excellent for offsite team meetings! Very cosy, super clean, welcoming atmosphere, one would argue it deserves a 5-star! Really worth the price! The only disadvantage is that it is located very much uphill from Lugano and those that might be car-sick will definitely feel it … but totally worth the pain 😀
